Looking After Your Feet

Your health is your wealth and any indication that something is amiss should be taken seriously. Whether it is the dull thud in the back of your head or a twinge in your ankle when you are walking, it is always important that you watch out for your body's own signs that something is wrong.

Foot health is one area that often causes embarrassment and people can hide away potential foot problems rather than deal with them straight away. Issues such as ingrown toenails, fungal foot infections and foot odour can cause us to hide our feet away. However, they are all issues that are best dealt with straight away rather than allowing them to develop into much more serious problems. Untreated fungal infections can lead to serious infections in the nail bed which can be difficult or impossible to treat further down the line.

Foot health is not just about the exterior. The foot is made up of 26 bones and these bones are put under daily pressure as all of our weight presses down on them every single day. The weight that the foot is forced to endure can also lead to inflammation problems such as plantar fasciitis. This affects the connective tissue within the foot.

Wearing ill-fitting shoes and high stiletto heels can also lead to foot problems such as painful bunions or unsightly hammer toes. Whilst vanity demands 'No pain, No Gain', the long-term health problems caused by wearing stilettos have been well documented.

Foot health is important. Wearing comfortable trainers with good support can literally give you a new lease of life and a spring in your step. Remember that your feet bear the brunt of your daily life and treat them with care. They will thank you for it.
