Statement Approval
ISSFAL is in the process of finalising the adoption of three
official statements. One deals with the extent to which alpha-linolenic
acid can be metabolised to longer chain omega-3 derivatives in mammals,
another deals with polyunsaturated fatty acid intakes in pregnancy and
lactation, while the third concerns polyunsaturated fatty acid contents
in Infant Formula. Society procedures require that members are given
the opportunity to examine and comment on the proposed statements
before their final adoption. All three draft statements can be downloaded from the "ISSFAL Draft Statements
" page under the Members Only menu. A special Members Forum section has
been established to facilitate member comment, and members are
encouraged to make use of this means to make their comments so that Board members can take them into account when deciding on the adoption of the statements which is scheduled for the Board meeting to be held
in Kansas City May 18th.
US members please note: The US Postal Service appears to be rejecting mail which does not have the addressees State and Zip Code in the address. Please check the details in your personal profile to ensure that these are both included, otherwise ISSFAL may be unable to communicate with you by mail.
PLEFA archive now available back to 1988; Logged-in members should click on "PLEFA Link", and then once into the Elsevier platform, click on "previous issues" and select "back" to access the previous issues 5 years at a time.
Following the successful conclusion of negotiations with Elsevier, all paid -up members will receive, from January 2008, a free electronic subscription to the journal Prostaglandins, Leukotrienes and Essential Fatty Acids (PLEFA). A hard copy subscription is also available in addition to the electronic one, on payment of a further £35 per year. Regrettably, some member invoices contained a typographical error to the effect that a hard copy subscription could be obtained for £25 per year. This was an error, and should have been £35. A Paypal button for this purpose has been added to the Membership Dues page. Members wishing to take advantage of this offer must pay their dues (by using the Paypal button, or some other means) and pay for the PLEFA hard copy (either by using the new PLEFA button, or paying by some other means). The access link from this website to the PLEFA access website is now set up and working.
